2017-2018 KING'S BRASS TOUR
TIM ZIMMERMAN - Director of The King's Brass, Tim received his graduate degree in Trumpet Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University, in Baltimore, Maryland. He has been a member of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and has assisted with a number of orchestras in the Midwest and East Coast. For thirteen years, Tim served as Chairman of the Music Department at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. He has also taught at Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan Universities in central Indiana. Tim and his wife Beckie, have four grown children and live in sunny Fort Myers, Florida.
GREGORY ALLEY – Currently, Gregory is the trumpet instructor at Calvin College and Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Prior to teaching, he was a member of the West Point Band in New York for twenty-three years. His music degrees are from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Michigan State University. Gregory plays in the Holland Symphony Orchestra, has been a soloist with the Dallas Symphony, Hudson Valley Bachfest Orchestra, and the Montclair Chamber Ensemble. He, his wife Deb, and their four daughters, live in Hudsonville, Michigan.
DAN DAVIS – Dan received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. Currently, he is pursuing his Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Tennessee Tech University. As the graduate assistant for the tuba/euphonium studio, his responsibilities include teaching, holding the tuba chair in the “Brass Arts” faculty brass quintet and playing with the Bryan Symphony Orchestra. Originally from San Jose, California, Dan currently lives in Cookeville, Tennessee, where he enjoys watching movies and playing with his cat, Jax.
MATT DUEPPEN – Matt is a trumpet soloist and chamber musician in the Greater Houston area. He received his Bachelors of Arts in Music degree from California State University - Northridge and his Master of Music degree in Music Education from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Matt plays regularly with the Cathedral Brass, solos at St. Anthony’s Cathedral Basilica and directs the Lamar Honors Brass Quintet. He will be continuing his educational pursuit to receive a Doctorate of Musical Arts in the near future. He loves traveling, working out, spending time with his family and friends, and running with his dog Grover.
MICHAEL “NASH” FLANAGIN - Nash is currently a student at Indiana Wesleyan University, in Marion, Indiana, where he is completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education with an Emphasis in Percussion. He has performed with the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra and Kokomo Symphony, and participated in mission trips to Zambia & Honduras. Nash has won numerous awards including the Indiana Wesleyan University Concerto Competition on Marimba. When not playing music, he enjoys board games with his family, and taking his dogs Maggie and Bandit for walks in the park.
SUNGHWAN KIM – Sunghwan holds two Master’s degrees in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He also graduated summa cum laude from his undergraduate studies at the Chugye University for the Arts in Korea. Sunghwan studied music composition at the Hanyang University and served as a pianist in the Republic of Korea Air Force Band. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance at Ohio State University. Currently living in Columbus, Ohio, Sunghwan dreams of one day publishing his own hymn arrangement book for piano.
CASEY KLINT - Casey received his Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance from the University of Maryland and his undergraduate performance degree from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. As a result of the high quality performances he heard as a young man in his native Chicago, and the encouragement of his Chicago Symphony mentors, he dedicated himself to pursuing a career as a professional trombonist. Casey is currently living in Wichita, Kansas, and working as a freelance musician and brass teacher. When not in the practice room, he works diligently at taking strokes off of his golf game.
DANIEL MORRISON – Daniel is pursuing a Master’s degree in Bass Trombone Performance at the University of Delaware. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana where he played trombone in the Wind and Jazz Ensembles, sang bass in the Chorale and developed his acting skills by performing a number of roles in Taylor University Opera and Musical Theatre productions. He grew up as a missionary kid in Kenya, in East Africa, but now lives in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where he enjoys playing basketball, drinking chai tea, and pursuing the art of pun-making.
DREW WOLGEMUTH – Drew earned a Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree from Messiah College in Pennsylvania. He has held positions as principal trombone of the Perrysburg Symphony, Ohio, and as principal trombone and mentor teacher for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Civic Symphony and Wind Ensemble. Drew’s passion for chamber music has led to performances with the Messiah College Faculty Brass Quintet, and as member and soloist with the Agora Brass Ensemble. Drew lives with his wife Laureen in Westminster, Maryland.
