Faith Promise Giving

The Missions Ministry of Shelby Bible Church is made possible through the sacrificial giving of its members.  Our missions outreach is completely separate from our church’s general operating budget and is financed through what is called “Faith Promise” giving.  Here is a brief explanation of what Faith Promise giving is all about:

Faith Promise...is agreeing with God that He loves the world and wants every person to have an opportunity to respond to the Gospel of Christ.  It is an agreement you make with God to give financially by faith to worldwide missions.  It is a promise made to God to give as He provides a certain amount over a specific time (usually a year).  It requires faith because you are trusting God to provide these funds in various ways, often unknown to you.  (John 3:16)

Faith Promise...is believing that God’s resources are unlimited and that He wants to provide the money needed to reach the world through His church.  The mission of the Church, as given by Christ himself, is to reach the entire world with the Gospel and bring closure to the Great Commission.  By giving to God’s work, you are agreeing with God that all people groups and nations of the world must believe on Jesus to be saved.  (Romans 10:13-15)

Faith Promise...is giving based on God’s power and resources and on your willingness to be used.  It is not what you think you can do but rather what you believe that God can do through you as an available channel of supply to evangelize the world.  God is just looking for some empty clay pots that will be willing to be filled by Him and used to give “living water” to the millions of lost and thirsty souls in our world.  (2 Corinthians 8:3)

Faith Promise...is a voluntary commitment to God.  Faith Promise giving is not a pledge to the church, but a personal commitment to God.  It should be motivated by your love for Him and a desire to see others have the same opportunity to experience the grace of God in their life as you have.  (2 Corinthians 8:8)

Faith Promise...is realizing that God wants to bless you and reward your trust in His provision.  Grace giving is a matter of faith.  When we obey God to meet the needs of others, He has promised that He will meet our needs.  Faith Promise giving will result in a life filled with joy and thanksgiving for all God has blessed you with.  (Philippians 4:19)

Blount, Bill & Bonnie (Evangelist)

God called him to train for the ministry in 1960, and he was immediately obedient, graduating from Midwestern Baptist College, Pontiac, Michigan, with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education in 1965. Rev. Blount was ordained as a minister of the gospel by the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Pontiac, Michigan, in 1965. Because of God's blessings upon his work in the Gospel ministry of preaching, pastoring and music, Midwestern Baptist College honored him with the degree of Doctor of Sacred Music in 1995.  Dr. Bill was a teacher of Bible and Music courses at Midwestern Baptist College during the years of 1993 thru 1999, until the new work of Evangelism grew to such a state that schedules were impossible to coordinate. He is now being used of God greatly in the field of evangelism to preach and sing the Gospel. He desires to help Pastors, challenge churches and win souls.

Craft, Don & Gail (Thailand)

We are sent out by the First Baptist Church of Hazel Park, an independent and fundamentalist Baptist church in the northern Detroit suburbs.  Our mission board is Association of Baptists for World Evangelism and is a sound Baptist mission board founded in 1926 when the leaders separated from the liberal Northern Baptist Convention.  We are a faith mission depending upon support from individuals and like-minded Baptist churches. We have two churches that we have started in the past 14 years of ministry and have been active in teaching in the Romprakhun Baptist Bible Seminary, administration of camps, youth work and evangelism and church planting using English classes to draw prospects.

Encounter Revival Ministries

Encounter Revival Ministries was established in 1991 out of a burden for the discipleship of young people and the need for spiritual renewal among believers. Originating in Charlotte, North Carolina by Ardy Parlin, Encounter began as a team of young adults trained in music and youth ministry for schools and churches. Encounter soon expanded to include week-long church meetings with a special emphasis on spiritual revival. In 1997, Encounter moved their headquarters to Mt. Lou San Bible Camp, located in Harrisburg, PA. From here, the ministry continued to grow as year after year, young men and women continued to commit a part of their life to the ministry and discipleship available at Encounter Revival Ministries. In addition to a full schedule of revival meetings in various states, Encounter's ministry has multiplied in far away areas like India, Zambia and Myanmar.

Fielder, Ken and Linda - WorldView Ministries

WorldView Ministries is a ministry that focuses on the unreached people groups of the world. Approximately 95% of the unreached people of the world live in the 10/40 Window, an area which encompasses the continents of Africa, Europe and Asia from the 10th to the 40th parallels. Over 1/2 of the world's population lives there and most of them have never heard the name of Jesus Christ.Areas of focus include India; Mali, West Africa and the Muslim world of the Middle East and North Africa. God has opened wonderful doors of opportunity to impact the unreached through Church Planting, National Training and Bible Translation and Distribution.

Gonino, Dominic & Elaine Gonino (Church Planters)

ominic & Elaine have served with BMW since 1982.  Their field of ministry has involved church planting amongst the Mormons in Idaho & Utah for some 32 years.  During that time, they have had the privilege of planting and/or pastoring 4 different locations on the Mormonland field.  Then from 1996 to 2005, Dominic served as the field leader for Idaho/Utah before stepping in as U.S. Area Director in 2005.  In addition to caring for some 48 missionary families across the U.S., their ministry now involves a lot of travel representing the needs in missions in various settings such as mission conferences, churches and on college campuses.

Keen, Charles & Mary (First Bible International)

FirstBible is involved full time in getting Scriptures to the “unreached people groups” of the world, working primarily in the 10/40 Window. The ministry has printing presses in Mongolia and India.  In 1973, the ministry of Bearing Precious Seed was born. The growth of the ministry made it necessary to move to the Woodville Pike location and the ministry occupied several buildings there at different times.  It would be impossible to name all the men in FBC that worked on those buildings. The founding of a training school for missionaries and pastors developed in the heart of Dr. Keen. He founded The School of the Scriptures to train men for the ministry.  Presently there are many graduates of this school serving on the foreign field as missionaries and in churches throughout the United States and Canada as pastors.

In the past 30 years of their full time traveling ministry, the Keffers have enjoyed a wide variety of ministry opportunities.Whether it's in a revival meeting, a family life conference, a concert, or a praise gathering, one thing is certain, the name of Jesus will be exalted and His saints will have a good time in the Lord! The Keffers have enjoyed tremendous success in Southern Gospel radio.

Knox, John & Becky (Japan)

John and Becky  met while students at Bob Jones University and were married in 1980. For 5 years following marriage, John and Becky worked in a church ministry in Charleston, SC, but were praying for the Lord’s direction to go to the mission field according to His will. After a summer ministry trip to Japan, God burdened their hearts to return as full time missionaries, which they did in 1987. Following some years of language study and gaining experience in the church Becky’s parents had started in Japan, John and Becky started another church plant in the Tokyo suburban town of Moroyama where they currently live. One goal in the near future is to see this ministry become independent of missionary leadership and for other church ministries to be established in surrounding communities.

Kovach, Paul & Ashley (Brazil)

Our excitement grows on a daily basis, especially as we stay in constant contact with the pastors of the church plants and ministries in Brazil. We are currently working to schedule our year for when we return so we can hit the ground running. The first item on our agenda is to find a house closer to our church starts. When we first moved to Recife, we were looking for anything which would house our family at a low cost. The house met all the criteria, but is a good distance from our works and we are praying about finding something closer to the city which will make life more functional overall. Lord willing, our next prayer letter will be from Brazil! We thank each and every one of you for your prayers and support of our family and ministry.

Landon, Mark & Joanne (Scotland)

Joanne and I wanted to thank you for your faithful prayers and support. We praise the Lord for new opportunities to witness and share our faith with others. It always amazes me to see the depth of disbelief in peoples hearts but we take encouragement that the Bible says, “God’s Word will not return void.” Isaiah 55:11 "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

Nunez, Marco & Gwendolyn

Marco emigrated from Mexico to the United States in 1966 at the age of twenty-one, along with his mother and two sisters. While attending college and working in Detroit, Michigan, he heard the Gospel message and accepted the Lord as his Savior in 1969. During his next two years at BJU, Marco’s heart was turned back to his native land. Marco joined the family of EMU International as a missionary to Mexico in 1995. Because it is a fairly new city, the populace is without traditional family roots in the area or in the local Catholic church. The people are much more open to the message of the Gospel than Mexicans in many other regions.

Her 23 years of missionary service in Peru included teaching mathematics to MKs, becoming assistant administrator at the Academy, and working in a local church. Not only was she faithfully serving God at the Academy, but God was preparing her for His next phase in her life. After completion of her fifth term of missionary service in Peru, God has lead her to return to the US to work at Bibles International, as a financial and operational manager, and to watch over her mother as she grows older .

Stewards, Joshua & Denise (Ireland)

We have been called to surrender our lives to serve the Lord full time. About four years ago we committed to saying "yes" to God and to be radically obedient to Him. We traded in what WE wanted for what He would have us to do. We were not placed on this earth to serve ourselves and to be "comfortable." We have committed to a life of faith and complete trust in God and His plans. We began to pray earnestly for direction. He led us to become missionaries. We will obey. He called us to the Republic of Ireland. We will obey. We love youth and have worked in youth ministry over the last four years or so at CBT. We have a vision to bring the hope of a relationship with Jesus Christ to the people in Ireland. Would you please consider partnering with us prayerfully and financially in accomplishing the vision God has given to us for winning Republic of Ireland for Christ.

Whitman, Josh & Sara  (Italy)

As a family we have been actively involved in missions in Italy since 2007. Josh was born and raised in Perugia, Italy in a missionary family.  Sara was born and raised in Bologna in an Italian family. After having done a church planting internship in Bologna we were sent to Imola to evaluate the possibility of planting a new church in the area. We have been here since 2009 and are excited to see how God is opening doors to ministry.

Wyler, Doug & Ronda (Evangelist)

As a family, the Lord is using the Wylers on Wheels to spread the Gospel in churches and other ministries across North America. Since 1992, Evangelist Doug Wyler and his family have traveled full-time in evangelistic ministry in all 48 continental United States and Canada. Although the main focus of the Wyler's outreach is preaching the Gospel, the entire family is involved in many aspects. Every member is active in several areas of the ministry including: music, dramas, "Kids 4 Christ" program, and various other areas. Over the years, the Lord has worked mightily through their evangelistic ministry.
