Serving Behind-the-Scenes ("Rebekah Ministries")

The purpose and function of the Rebekah Ministries is to project a personal representation of Jesus Christ meeting people face-to-face when they first arrive at Shelby Bible Church and those who continue to serve "behind the scenes of the main services happening in the sanctuary.  This ministry area is named after the biblical character of Rebekah, who exemplified the character of servanthood.  Jesus himself commanded His followers to embody this serving attitude in many passages of Scripture.  He told us that if any wanted to be “a master, let him first be a servant”, and showed this in His own example as He washed the disciples’ feet.

Our hospitality ministry involves several groups;  the Welcome Center personnel, our Greeters, the Nursery Ministry, the Sound Booth ministry, the Kitchen Ministries and the Ushers Team of our church.  These people have a warm smile, a friendly handshake and enjoy helping those who come through our doors or providing services "behind the scenes".

The Hospitality Team is always looking for friendly people to join their team.  For more information, please send an email to Mrs. Liz Stecher in our church office.

  • Welcome Center   ( 0 Articles )
This team serves in a similar capacity as the Greeters, but they are the source of information for those who have questions.  They learn the facilities and who meets where, as well as answering general questions about the ministry as a whole.
  • Nursery Ministry   ( 0 Articles )

A special ministry to provide for those two years old and younger during regular and special services of the church.  Our nursery is beautiful, and is specially cared for by our Nursery Director, Linda Pendergrass and her team leaders.  Each child is given tender love and care from the time they are dropped off by their parent until they are picked up again.  All moms who have children two years and younger take their turn helping in the nursery, as well as many others in our church who love babies! If you would like to be a part of the nursery team, please call the church office at 586.566.3825.

  • Greeter Ministry   ( 0 Articles )
This team serves all who come in the doors of SBC.  They provide a first line of welcome to newcomers and members alike, providing a smiling face and caring touch to all who come to worship here.
  • Kitchen Ministry   ( 0 Articles )
Our kitchen ministry, under the direction of Mark Streetman provides many services to our congregation.  They plan, prepare and serve the weekly Wednesday night meals from 5:45-6:30 during the school year.  In addition they assist with other fellowships, have a team that helps to provide Mercy Meals for those who are sick or injured or need assistance, as well as hosting Bereavement Meals here at the church for famillies who lose loved ones.  This team provides a vital service to our church, enabling us to enjoy our times of fellowship together, providing nourishment for visiting traveling groups and many others.  If you would like to be a part of the planning, preparation or cleanup teams, please call the church office at 586.566.3825.
