As most of you learned over the weekend, most of us have been dragging our feet about submitting recipes for the church cookbook. Now we know how good the cooks at Shelby are because we sample the food at our potlucks! So, we're giving you another way to give us your recipes! Attached is a Word document that you can use, or print and fill out. If you choose to print the document and fill it out manually, please turn the recipe in at the Welcome Center or the church office, or mail it to the church at 47905 Hayes Road, Shelby Township, MI 48315.
If you want to do it all electronically, please follow these steps:
1. Save the document at the bottom of this article to your computer. Once you click on the document, please choose "Save" and then select your "Documents" or "My Documents" folder or some location other than your default folder which is usually "Mail Downloads" or something like this. This is only a temporary location and will not save your changes! 2. Find the document you saved, open it in Word and type on the underlines - you will need to delete extra underlines to make it line up right, but this is easier and quicker for those who are good typists. 3. Once you have completed the form with your recipe, choose File, Save As and name it for the recipe you typed. Now you have an extra blank form to type and submit more than one recipe. So open the first document you saved and go through Steps 1-3 again. 4. Once your recipes are filled out, create a new message by clicking here. Click "Attach" and choose the Word documents you typed as your recipes and attach them to your email and finally click "Send" and you're done! 5. Send us an email if you have trouble with any part of this and we'll step you through. Click here for help!

It is amazing to think of all that has happened in the past few weeks. First of all, some good news: my brother, Doug, who lives in Colorado, accepted Jesus into His life for His own Lord and Savior shortly after our visit in June. We can't begin to thank God enough for the way He worked in Doug's heart and now to know He will be with us in heaven is so exciting for me, I just want to shout!
Now to the more difficult news. We have lost several dear family members in the past few weeks and months and they will be terribly missed. Heaven gets sweeter all the time. But the hardest news of all is to know that the grandbaby we expected to love and spoil, has been transported to heaven and out of our daughter Julie and son-in-law Mike's waiting arms. Landry Howard, born July 7, 2010, was chosen to be a part of the heavenly kingdom instead of the earthly one. As we walked through this difficult time with them, and stood as they took his tiny body to the cemetery, it is hard to see God's hand in it all sometimes. Yet, God's loving words remind me that He knows the way that we take...and He alone makes the decisions of life and death.
Will you please pray for our family during this difficult time, and especially for Mike and Julie. Not only did they lose their son, but Mike also lost his job and his grandmother within an 8 day period. So they need the love and support of Christian brothers and sisters who will pray for God's healing, wisdom and provision during this time in their lives.
Thank you for taking time to read this short update. It is wonderful to have so many people who care. To contact me, please feel free to click here to send an email.
