The Pretenders

As we begin the New Year, it's a good time for us to re-evaluate where we are in our spiritual life. Are we just going through the motions? Are we stuck in the normal routine we've always had, but with little life in us? Is our love for God so immense that it has captured our heart, mind, soul and strength?

As we meditate on these thoughts and allow Jesus to challenge our hearts as to His Kingdom work for 2010, our Pastors will be challenging us to open our hearts to whatever He wants for our lives in 2010.

Pastor Matt will be preaching this Sunday at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm. The Sunday AM Message will be another message in his series, "The Pretenders". You won't want to miss listening for a special message just for you as we worship together around God's Word and in song.

As Sr. Pastor here at Shelby, it has been a privilege to serve with the wonderful people who are part of the Shelby family. We are a community of people who are sinners, but have found hope and grace through God's gracious gift. He has given us so much more than we deserve and we love to serve Him and one another in this special place.

My heart continues to desire more for our church - that each one of us would be willing to truly follow Jesus - no matter what the cost. Every day the fatal malady of sin fights for position wanting to drive our fleshly cravings - seeking to influence our "me first" thinking instead of allowing us to live by the Spirit of God and His ways.
